It just happened with the Boondocks reboot. John Witherspoon’s son I’m Here To Pet All The Cows Vintage Shirt auditioned for the role and got turned down with no real reason. His son, JD, is a professional VA and stand-up who does a spot-on impression of his dad. He talks about it here. The fans are commenting about it on every FB post by the boondocks page, but the producers don’t care and it seems like the showrunner is staying out of it. I think people were afraid to give feedback, because of the awkward situation. It sounds like they were all afraid to confront him or have him redo lines when it was his late father.
